Director – Quality Operations

Job Summary:

The Director – Quality Operations will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance strategies to ensure operational excellence within the marine logistics sector. This role requires expertise in quality management systems, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maritime quality standards, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency to drive a culture of excellence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute quality operations strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of ISO and maritime industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local maritime regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments to enhance quality performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational processes.
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, reporting systems, and performance dashboards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements across the organization.
  • Manage supplier and vendor quality assurance programs.
  • Provide leadership and training to enhance quality awareness and best practices.
  • Act as the key liaison with regulatory bodies, classification societies, and industry stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Logistics, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in quality operations within the marine logistics or shipping industry.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISM Code, and other maritime quality standards.
  • Proven experience in quality auditing, risk management, and compliance.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality control frameworks and best practices.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience in digital transformation and automation of quality processes is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Six Sigma certification.
  • Master’s degree in Quality Management, Maritime Studies, or Business Administration.
  • Experience working with international shipping regulations and port authorities.
