Job Summary:
The Shutdown Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance activities to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This role requires extensive experience in managing large-scale shutdown projects within the Oil & Gas sector, with a strong focus on cost control, scheduling, resource management, and HSE compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement detailed shutdown and turnaround plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead and manage shutdown activities, including scope definition, resource allocation, and execution.
- Establish and monitor shutdown schedules, budgets, and performance indicators.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth shutdown execution.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize downtime and cost overruns.
- Oversee procurement, logistics, and inventory management for shutdown-related materials and equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed within the agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Conduct post-shutdown evaluations, analyze performance, and recommend improvements for future turnarounds.
- Provide leadership and training to the shutdown team to enhance overall efficiency and execution.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in shutdown and turnaround management within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong understanding of shutdown planning, execution, and risk management.
- Expertise in HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control of shutdown projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification.
- Experience in managing shutdowns for offshore and onshore facilities.
- Knowledge of digital transformation initiatives in maintenance and turnaround management.
